State Level Webinar on “Human Rights” 2020-21

On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, the Department of Humanities, the Human Rights and Consumer Forum and the Mahila Vedike of our college jointly organized a State Level Webinar as well as Justice Suresh Hosabettu Endowment Lecture on “Human Rights” on 10th December 2020. The Principal of Police training School Dr. Dharani Devi Malagatti IPS, was the resource person. Speaking at the webinar, the resource person highlighted that India has an outstanding constitution and a plethora of sound laws and policies to uphold different dimensions of human rights, hence, the focus should be on efforts to translate laws and constitutional provisions into a reality for the protection of human rights. M. Venkat Rao, the Secretary of Hindu Vidhyadayini Sangha Inaugurated the programme. During the inaugural address he emphasized the role of youth in protecting and promoting the human rights and also he advised the youth to come forward to create awareness about human rights. The Principal Prof. P. Krishnamurthy presided over the function and appreciated the efforts of Justice Suresh Hosabettu. The Coordinator of the Human Rights Forum Dr. Ashalatha P, made an introductory speech. Prof. B.Y Kumar, Dean of Humanities, welcomed the gathering. The Coordinator of Consumer Forum Mrs. Daya Suvarna proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Ravikala, the Coordinator of Mahila Vedike, introduced the resource person to the audience. The entire programme was coordinated by Manjappa D. Goni, the Head of the Department of Journalism. 100 Zoom Cloud Meeting App participants and more than 425 YouTube viewers consisting  of students, academicians and Human Right activists from various districts took part in the webinar. Online feedback was collected from the participants and E- certificate was also issued for the 201 participants.
