Nudinamana to Chennaveera Kanavi (21-22)

Kannada writer and poet Chennaveera Kanavi 16.02.22 passed away due to old age at the age of 93.

Kanavi was born in Hombal of Gadag district on June 28, 1928 to Sakkareppa and Parvathavva. He finished his school and college education in Dharwad.

He worked as a director of Prasaranga of the Karnataka University from 1956 to 1983 and received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his work Jeeva Dhwani (Poetry) in 1981.

Kanavi had penned more than 15 books, which were compilation of poems, collection of essays and various other books.

The literature had won the Sahitya Academi award for his book ‘Jeevadhwani’. Besides, he received the Rajyotsava Award, Pampa Award, Nadoja title, Nrupathunga award, Sahitya Bangara Award and several other awards.

Govinda Dasa College Library, Organized Nudi namana  to pave tribute to this literary laureate and versatile personality.  Principal Prof. P.Krishnamurthy was the president and spoke about Chennavirakanavi. Prof. Marcel Louis Mascarenhas  , Dean of Language  Department was on stage.

Librarian Smt. Savithri. A, welcomed the gathering, Chandrashekar K, Library Staff, proposed the vote of thanks. Smt. Suman  has  mastered  the ceremony.
