National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences Bangalore, Manashanthi Counselling Research and Training Centre,Mangalore, Father Muller Medical College,Mangalore,Suicide Lifeline. A Unit of Susheg Charitable Trust,Mangalore Lions and Leo Club Halengadi in association with IQAC,Mahila Vedike,NSS , Consumer and Human Rights Cell and Women Grievances Redressal Cell of Govinda College organised an Youth Empowerment Program “Peer Led Suicide Prevention Program for students of Educational Institutions”. The Program was sponsored by BASF INDIA LIMITED on the 2nd of June 2023.
The One day Workshop was inaugurated by Shri Santhosh Pai, Manager Human Resources, BASF India Limited, The guests of honour were Ms Rashmi R ,president Lions Club Haleangadi and Dr Manu Anand, Consultant Psychiatrist,Arka Health Care Centre Surathkal, who also provided key inputs in preventing student suicides. Dr Rameela Shekhar,Manashanthi Counselling Research and Training Centre was the resouce person along with Ms Fathima Serroa and Ms Mercy from Suicide Lifeline. 90 students were selected from all the streams to particpate in the workshop with the intention that these students would be like mentors to their friends. Principal of the College Prof Krishnamoorthy P presided over the Function. Prof Hareesh Acharya IQAC Coordinator welcomed the gathering.Mrs Daya Suvarna NSS Program Officer and coordinator of Consumer Forum delivered the Vote of Thanks. Coordinator of Mahila Vedike and Women Grievances Redressal Cell Ms Shreedevi, NSS Program Officer Akshatha V were also present, The master of the cermony was Mahila Vedike student coordinator Ms Arpitha Final Bcom. Students received certificates for attending the workshop
