NSS Units of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal organized a programme called “Krishi Khushi” to give students practical experience in agriculture and promote traditional farming values on 27th July, 2025. The event took place at Edmemar Field, Padupanambur, a local farm that provided a great space for hands-on learning.
Ms. Sharmitha from the Department of English and Ms. Ramitha from the Department of Hindi supported and encouraged the students throughout the event. The chief guests were Shri Naveen Shetty Edmemar and Smt. Susheela Devadiga, who actively guided the program.
The event started with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness. NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Akshatha V. welcomed the guests and participants warmly. Naveen Shetty Edmemar gave an inspiring speech about the importance of agriculture and traditional knowledge, encouraging students to respect rural life and farming.
The program was led by Naveen Shetty Edmemar and Susheela Devadiga, who showed students how to plant rice using traditional methods. This hands-on experience made the event both educational and enjoyable. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Akshatha V.
Krishi Khushi was a successful and memorable event that helped students connect with nature, learn farming skills, and appreciate traditional agriculture. Everyone was happy and grateful to be part of this meaningful experience.
