The Department of Post-Graduate Studies in Commerce organized a one-day local industrial visit on 21 November 2025 to Bolas Agro Limited, Nitte, and the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Nitte Grama Panchayat, Karkala. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with firsthand exposure to industrial operations, production processes, and sustainability practices, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application.

A total of 37 students, comprising both first-year and second-year M.Com batches, enthusiastically participated in the visit. They were accompanied by five faculty members and one administrative staff, ensuring smooth coordination and guidance throughout the program.

Visit to Bolas Agro Limited, Nitte

During the visit to Bolas Agro Limited, students gained valuable insights into the manufacturing and packaging processes of agro-based products. The company’s technical team briefed the students on procurement methods, quality control procedures, supply chain management, and the marketing strategies employed to sustain competitiveness in the agro-industry. The practical demonstration of machinery and workflow offered students a comprehensive understanding of industrial operations beyond the classroom curriculum.

Visit to Material Recovery Facility (MRF), Nitte Grama Panchayat

The visit to the Material Recovery Facility provided students with meaningful exposure to waste management practices at the local governance level. Students learned about segregation, recycling processes, resource recovery mechanisms, and the role of sustainability in community welfare. The interactive session with the MRF staff highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility and efficient waste-handling systems.

Outcome of the Visit

The industrial visit proved highly beneficial, as it enriched the students’ practical knowledge and enhanced their understanding of real-world business and sustainability practices. It also encouraged experiential learning and improved their awareness of industry expectations, operational challenges, and the importance of innovation and efficiency in modern industries.
