Soulful rendition of the Nadageethe by 100 students.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Department of Kannada, Vidyarthivani- The wall Magazine Forum, Students’ Association, National Service Scheme (NSS), Language Department, Lalithakala Sangha and Humanities Department of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, managed by Hindu Vidyadayini Sangha ® Surathkal, organized a grand celebration of “Kannada Rajyotsava and the Centenary of the Naadageethe -State Anthem” in the college campus on 31.10.2025.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vasudeva Belle, Principal, Government Pre-University College, Mulki. In his inaugural address, he spoke passionately about the importance of preserving and promoting the Kannada language. He highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Kannada, which reflects the values and traditions of the land. Dr. Belle also shed light on its remarkable literary legacy, particularly the contributions of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, which has enriched Indian literature. He emphasized the historical significance of celebrating the centenary of the State Anthem as a symbol of unity and pride. Concluding his address, he emphasized that “ಭಾಷೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಬೇಕು” — love should grow among languages, rather than hatred.
Prof. Ramesh Bhat, Administrative Director, delivered the Rajyotsava greetings and emphasized the importance of nurturing love for the Kannada language and fostering a sense of state pride among the younger generation.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Harish Acharya, Principal of the College, who in his presidential address, spoke on the glorious literary tradition of Kannada and the role of education in its preservation and promotion.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Akshatha, Lecturer, Department of Kannada. It began with an invocation by the BBA students, setting a devotional tone for the celebration. Dr. Santosh Alva, Head of the Department of Kannada, welcomed the gathering and presented an overview of the programme. Mr. Kittu, Lecturer, Department of Kannada, introduced the guests. Dr. Ashalatha P., Head of the Department of Political Science and Coordinator of the Vidyarthivani Wall Magazine Forum, proposed the vote of thanks. The Vice Principal, Prof. Neelappa V., along with Mr. Dhanya Kumar Venkannanavar, Dr. Sowmya Pravin, Dr. Bhagyalaxmi, Mr. Kumar Madar, and Dr. Vijayalaxmi, were present on the dais. Prof. Vaman Kamath, Dr. Sujatha, Daya Suvarna, Dr. Kartik, Dr. Asha, Dr. Pratheeksha, Mr. Venkappa Moolya, and Mrs. Savitri were also present at the programme.
The celebration concluded with a soulful rendition of the Naadageethe “Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujaate” by 100 students. Faculty members and administrative staff also joined in singing melodious Kannada Rajyotsava songs, adding to the spirit of pride and unity that marked the occasion. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff members across various departments of the college.
