The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Value Education Club of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, in association with the Kuthethoor Govinda Dasa Charitable Trust, organised a guest lecture on “Path to Perfection – Values in Life” on 13 August 2025. The programme was organised with the objective of inculcating ethical values, moral responsibility, and positive life skills among students, thereby contributing to their holistic development.
The resource person for the programme was Sri Nithayananda S. B., Founder of the Vivekavamshi Foundation, Mysore. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Prof. Hareesha Acharya P.
Sri M. Ramesh Rao, Secretary, Bhaktha Sri Kuthethoor Govinda Dasa Charitable Trust Foundation, and Prof. Ramesh Bhat S. G., Director–Administration, graced the occasion as the Guests of Honour.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by the Dr. Santhosh Alva, Coordinator of the Value Education Club. Prof. Neelappa V. Mr. Dhanya Kumar Venkannavar, IQAC Coordinators were present and actively involved in organising and coordinating the programme.
During his address, Sri Nithayananda S. B. emphasised that perfection in life is not merely about academic or professional success, but about cultivating strong values such as integrity, discipline, honesty, compassion, self-control, and respect for others. He highlighted how value-based living helps individuals overcome stress, build meaningful relationships, and lead a purposeful life. Through real-life examples and practical insights, he motivated students to reflect on their attitudes, habits, and responsibilities towards society.
In his presidential address, Prof. Hareesha Acharya P. stressed the importance of integrating value education with higher education and appreciated the efforts of IQAC and the Value Education Club in organising programmes that nurture character building alongside academic excellence. The Guests of Honour also shared their thoughts on the relevance of moral values in shaping responsible citizens.
A total of 182 first-year undergraduate degree students actively participated in the programme. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from the students, reflecting their keen interest and commitment to academic and value-based learning.
Outcome of the Programme:
The guest lecture on “Path to Perfection – Values in Life” proved to be highly impactful and meaningful for the students. The programme successfully enhanced students’ understanding of the importance of ethical values and moral principles in personal, academic, and professional life. Students gained clarity on how value-based living contributes to inner peace, self-discipline, and responsible decision-making.
The session encouraged students to reflect on their own attitudes, behaviour, and life goals, thereby promoting self-awareness and character development. It also motivated them to practice values such as integrity, honesty, compassion, and respect in their day-to-day lives. The interactive nature of the lecture helped students actively engage with the topic and apply the concepts to real-life situations.
Overall, the programme contributed to the holistic development of students by strengthening their moral outlook, social responsibility, and emotional balance. It reinforced the role of value education in shaping responsible, ethical, and socially committed citizens, aligning with the objectives of higher education and the vision of the institution.
