The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, organized a guest lecture on “Financial Literacy for Young Adults: Managing Money in the Real World” on 26th March 2026 at 2:30 PM in the A.V. Hall.
The session was delivered by Mrs. Harinakshi, Assistant Professor at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Institute of Management and IT (AIMIT). The objective of the talk was to create awareness among students about effective financial management practices in real-life situations.
The speaker began by emphasizing the importance of financial literacy for young adults, especially in today’s fast-paced and consumer-driven economy. She explained key concepts such as budgeting, saving, and responsible spending. Students were guided on how to track their income and expenses, differentiate between needs and wants, and develop disciplined financial habits.
Mrs. Harinakshi also highlighted the significance of savings and investments, introducing students to basic financial instruments such as bank deposits, mutual funds, and insurance.
