An awareness program on Organ donation and Blood donation camp was organised by IQAC and NSS Unit of Govinda Dasa College Surathkal in collaboration with KMC Mangaluru and Lions Club Ashoknagar Mangaluru on the 7th of January 2023 in the Audio Visual Hall. The Blood Donation and Awareness camp on Organ Donation began with a talk on “Importance of Organ Donation” by the Resource person Dr Mayur Prabhu, Consultant Nephrologist, KMC Mangaluru, who spoke on awareness and attitude towards organ donation. Dr Deepa Adiga, Director KMC Blood Bank, Mangaluru spoke and explained the procedures of the blood bank to receive and donate blood .She also explained the various types of divisions of blood defined in the blood bank. Prof.Ramesh Kulai, Director Administration Govinda Dasa college and Shri Melwin D’Souza, M.J.F, Vice District Governor, Lions International District 317-D were the Chief guests. The guests of honour were Shri N.J Nagesh,M.J.F District Co-ordinator, Lions Club Organiser of 241 blood donation camp and Smt Kusuma U Rao, M.J.F, President Lions Club, Ashoknagar.Prof P Krishnamoorty, Principal Govinda Dasa College Surathkal presided over the program. NSS programme Officers Smt Akshatha V and Smt Daya Suvarna were present.During the Blood Donation camp a total number of 74 donors donated blood . Certificates of appreciation and refreshments were given to all the donors as a token of gratitude. Smitha of Ist B.A compered the program, Hitha Umesh of Ist BCom welcomed the program and Anishashree of 2nd BCom Proposed the Vote of Thanks.
