Constitution, the pulse of India. Seventy five years of our constitution is moving as the pulse of the country. Our Constitution is the symbol of supremacy of a holistic India, which has been formed as the bastion of people’s desire for a peaceful and organized life, said Prof Valerian Rodrigues, former Professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
He was delivering a Key note address after inaugurating the state level seminar on Human Rights and Social Justice. The Program was organized on 26th November, the Constitution Day, to commemorate the 75th year of adoption of Constitution of India. The seminar was organized jointly by IQAC, Human Rights Forum, Humanities Department, Consumer Rights Forum and Mahila Vedike under Human Rights activist Justice Suresh Hosabettu Foundation.
In the first session of the seminar , Dr Reshma Ullal spoke on Human Rights and gender justice with special reference to Transgenders in India. Mangalmukhi social activist Dr Arundhati shared her experience.
In the second session , students Smita C and Juveria Naseera spoke on Children’s Rights and Challenges in India, Hitha Umesh spoke on Women’s Rights in India; On problems and possibilities, Sushmita spoke on Brahmashree Narayana Guru and Social Justice, Varshitha S, spoke on Human Rights and Environment. Shama Farhana presided over the session.
