The one-week NSS Annual Special Camp was organized by the NSS Units of Govinda Dasa College for registered volunteers at Shri Subrahmanya Higher Primary School, Tokuru, Haleyangadi, from 9th to 15th February 2025.
The proposed fieldwork projects included renovating a well within the school premises and decorating it with traditional Warli art, implementing a waste management system for segregating dry and wet waste, introducing a composting mechanism, demolishing defunct toilet facilities, and conducting a village survey.
A total of 100 NSS volunteers participated in the camp, accompanied by NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Akashatha V and Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M, under the guidance of Dr. Prashanth M.D., Physical Director, and Shri Vinod Shetty, Director of Fine Arts.
In addition to fieldwork, the camp featured enriching academic sessions on topics such as Women Empowerment, Theatre Education and Life, Literature and Environment – Karanta’s Perspective, Service, Relationships and the Value of Life, and Speech and Media in the Digital Age. A live demonstration on fire safety was also conducted by the MRPL team.
