Drug Awareness Programme at Townhall, Mangaluru

On 26 June 2025, NSS volunteers from Govinda Dasa College participated in a Drug Awareness Programme at Town Hall, Mangaluru, organized by the Mangaluru City Police. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about the growing issue of drug abuse among youth.

The students presented a street play showing the dangers of drug addiction. The story followed a student who starts using drugs due to peer pressure. Over time, this leads to serious problems such as poor academic performance, mental health issues, family conflicts, and even criminal behavior.

The performance highlighted the need for early help, the support of family, and the importance of rehabilitation and recovery. Through strong acting and emotional scenes, the play showed the psychological, social, and legal effects of drug abuse.

The play ended with a message of hope, encouraging open communication between parents and children, and stressing the role of families, schools, and police in preventing drug abuse. The event shared a powerful message:
“Don’t let drugs hold the pen to your life, take it back. Choose strength. Choose life. Choose yourself.”
