Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, celebrated National Unity Day 31st October 2025. The programme was jointly organized by the NSS, NCC, Rangers and Youth Red Cross Units of the college in association with the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Mangaluru. The celebration commemorated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, and aimed to promote the ideals of unity, integrity, and national integration.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G., who, in his inaugural address, spoke about Sardar Patel’s immense contribution to the unification of India and inspired the students to uphold his values of patriotism and service.
A guest talk was delivered by Mr. Rohith G S, Field Publicity Officer, Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Mangaluru. In his talk, he emphasized the importance of national unity in preserving India’s cultural and democratic fabric and highlighted the role of youth in fostering social harmony and national development.
Prof. Harisha Acharya P., Principal of the College, presided over the function and, in his presidential address, underlined that unity and discipline are the pillars of a strong and progressive nation.
The event was attended by Major Dr. Sudha U, NCC Officer; Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M and Mrs. Akshatha V, NSS Programme Officers; and Ms. Apeksha Bhandary, Rangers Officer. Their presence and guidance added significance to the occasion.
As part of the celebration, a “March for Unity” was organized for the NSS, NCC, Rangers and Youth Red Cross volunteers. The rally, held in and around the college campus, spread the message of unity, peace, and national integrity among the public.
The programme concluded with the National Unity Pledge reaffirming the commitment of all participants to uphold the nation’s unity and integrity. The event instilled a deep sense of patriotism and collective responsibility among the students.
