The Department of Library, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Govinda Dasa College, jointly organized a programme under the Pusthaka Preethi Parichaya Series on 27th March 2026.
As part of this series, a book review programme was conducted in the college to encourage reading habits and promote literary appreciation among students.
On this occasion, Ishika K., student of II B.A., presented a thoughtful and engaging review of the book “The Tale of the Twin Warriors (Koti Chennaya)” authored by Bannanje Babu Amin.
The book narrates the legendary story of Koti and Chennaya, the twin warrior heroes of Tulunadu, who are celebrated for their bravery, justice, and strong sense of righteousness. In her presentation, Ishika beautifully highlighted the cultural significance of the story and its deep roots in the folk traditions of coastal Karnataka.
She explained how the twins stood against social injustice and oppression, becoming symbols of courage and equality. The review also emphasized the author’s simple yet powerful storytelling style, which vividly brings out the historical and emotional aspects of the tale.
Ishika further discussed the relevance of the story in today’s society, stating that the values of unity, bravery, and justice portrayed in the book continue to inspire the younger generation.
The presentation was informative, well-structured, and appreciated by both students and faculty members. It successfully conveyed the essence of the book and encouraged the audience to explore regional literature and folklore.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Principal, Prof. Hareesha Acharya P., who also presented certificates and mementos to the students.
The programme was attended by faculty members from various departments, Librarian Dr. Sujatha B., and a large number of enthusiastic students.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Basava, student of II B.A., who also proposed the vote of thanks.
