An Anti-Addiction Drive was successfully organized on 4 May 2026 at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. The programme was jointly conducted by Seva Bharathi Karnataka, Mangalore University National Service Scheme, Keshava Smrithi Samvardhana Samithi (R), and Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust (R), in association with the National Service Scheme Units of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri Prakash Kotian, Founder and President of Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust. The Chief Guest, Dr. Kusum Thantry, DSA, a certified de-addiction counsellor, delivered an informative and thought-provoking talk on the causes, effects, and prevention of addiction.
A major highlight of the programme was the live interaction session with individuals who had overcome addiction. Their real-life experiences created awareness among students about the serious consequences of addiction and encouraged them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Hareesha Acharya P., Principal. Prof. Neelappa V, Vice Principal, Dr. Sudha U, NCC Officer, Mrs. Akshatha V, NSS Officer, faculty members, and students were present on the occasion.
Overall, the programme was conducted successfully and effectively fulfilled its objective of spreading awareness about addiction and its prevention.
