NSS Day Celebration and inauguration of Academic year Activities

The National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, celebrated NSS Day with great enthusiasm on September 24, 2025. The event also marked the official inauguration of the NSS activities for the academic year 2025–26. The ceremony was inaugurated by the esteemed office bearer of the Hindu Vidyadayinee Sangha, Mrs. Mrudula Binu, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Mrs. Mrudula Binu hoisted the NSS flag and lit the ceremonial lamp, formally launching the year’s activities. In a symbolic move to promote eco-conscious practices and support the campaign against plastic use, clay cups and clay jugs were presented to the dignitaries on stage-highlighting the NSS’s commitment to sustainability.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Mrudula Binu remarked, “A true volunteer is one who works selflessly for the betterment of society. The National Service Scheme shapes our personalities without us even realizing it.”

Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G., Administrative Director of Govinda Dasa College, emphasized the transformative power of NSS, stating, “The National Service Scheme has the power to shape ordinary individuals into extraordinary contributors to society. The newly appointed team should draw inspiration from their predecessors and work with renewed vigor and dedication.”

Presiding over the program, Principal Prof. Harish Acharya noted, “NSS is a unique platform that instills discipline, self-restraint, and a sense of humanity in students. I encourage the new team to take this legacy to greater heights.”

On this occasion, volunteers Supreeth, Ananya, Ritesh, and Pallavi officially took charge as the new NSS secretaries for the academic year. The oath of service was administered by NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Akshatha V., reaffirming the commitment of the volunteers to the ideals of the scheme.

The program began with a warm welcome by volunteer Ashwini, while the vote of thanks was delivered by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M. Volunteer Prapthi efficiently compered the event.
