First Responder Training

A First Responder Training Programme was organized for NSS volunteers on 29th October 2025 with the objective of equipping students with essential emergency response skills and enhancing their preparedness to handle medical emergencies and disaster situations.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Kishore Kumar, Principal, District Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, Surathkal, and Dr. Ranjan, Senior Anaesthetist and Professor, Department of Anaesthesia, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, who served as the resource persons.

During the session, the experts provided valuable insights into the role and responsibilities of first responders and stressed the importance of timely intervention in saving lives during emergencies. The training covered essential topics such as basic life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of bleeding and fractures, handling accident victims, airway management, and emergency communication procedures.

Practical demonstrations and interactive activities enabled the NSS volunteers to acquire hands-on experience in emergency response techniques. The resource persons emphasized the need for quick assessment, calm decision-making, and appropriate action during critical situations until professional medical assistance becomes available.

The volunteers actively participated in the demonstrations and discussions, making the programme highly engaging and informative. The training significantly enhanced their awareness, confidence, and practical skills, preparing them to serve effectively as first responders during emergencies and disaster situations.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which the volunteers clarified their doubts and gained a deeper understanding of emergency care and response mechanisms.
