The PTA Annual Meeting and Felicitation Programme was organised on 3 October 2026 at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. The programme brought together the PTA members, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, students and distinguished guests.
The programme commenced with the PTA Annual Meeting, with the presence of the PTA President Shivashankar Acharya, Vice President Mrs.Priyadarshini, Principal Prof. Hareesh Acharya, Vice Principal Prof. Nilappa V., Director Administration Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G., and PTA Secretary Mrs. Shailaja Praveen on the dais. The programme began with a prayer by Ms. Meghana.
Mrs. Shailaja Praveen delivered the welcome address and presented the PTA annual report, highlighting the activities and achievements of the association during the year. The Principal presented the annual budget, followed by discussions on the various activities of the PTA. The Vice Principal conducted the procedure for the selection of new PTA members.
Following the annual meeting, the Chief Guest, Mrs. R.J. Nayana Shetty, joined the programme and delivered an insightful talk on “Parenting Beyond Boundaries.” Her address highlighted the importance of understanding children, effective communication, emotional support and building a healthy parent-child relationship.
The programme continued with the felicitation of retired staff and achievers. Mr. Venkappa Moolya, retired administrative staff member of the institution, was felicitated for his valuable and dedicated service. Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G., Director Administration, was also felicitated for receiving the Best Administrator Award from the Karnataka Rajya Shikshakara Sangha. Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G. addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts and experiences with the audience.
This was followed by the felicitation of three rank holders of the college, recognising their outstanding academic performance. The Principal then addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their achievements.
Students who secured above 85% marks in the degree examinations conducted by Mangalore University were felicitated in recognition of their academic excellence. The top three students of the Postgraduate Department were also honoured for their meritorious performance.
As part of the programme, scholarships were distributed to deserving and needy students, extending financial support and encouragement towards their continued education.
The Presidential Remarks were delivered by Shivashankar Acharya, President of the PTA, who appreciated the achievements of the students and the efforts of the institution in promoting academic excellence and holistic development.
The programme was ably compered by Dr. Pratheeksha, while the names of the students receiving felicitation were read out by Ms. Poornima Ghokale. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Major Sudha U.
The event was a meaningful occasion that celebrated academic excellence, recognised dedicated service and achievements, and strengthened the bond between the institution, parents and students.
