World Population Day-2023

World  Population Day is commemorated  annually on July 11th to raise awareness and  educate individuals about the challenges and consequences associated  with global population growth. It serves as a reminder to continuously  work towards  addressing these issues and improving the lives of everyone on the planet. The observance of World Population Day aims to promote understanding and encourage collective efforts in tackling the impacts of population growth. According to United Nations, the theme for this year’s population Day is  Unleashing the Power of gender equality; Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities. The Economics Department under the umbrella of Humanities Department in association with the IQAC Cell organised a talk on  the occasion. The resource person was Mrs Prajna S , Assistant Professor in Economics, Besant Evening College Mangalore gave a talk on  ” Demographic Transition and Demographic Dividend;  Relevance in Sustainable Development Goals”. The  Inaugurator and the guest of honour was Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director Administration , Govinda Dasa College, who spoke on the occasion. Prof Hareesh  Acharya, Head of the  Department of Economics welcomed the gathering and spoke on the relevance of the Population Day. Principal of the college Prof P Krishnamoorty  presided over the function. Ms Shama Farahana,of 1st B.A proposed the vote of thanks. Sowparnika of second B.A was the master of the ceremony. Faculties of the Humanities Department were present on the occasion.
