PTA-Annual General Body Meeting 2023-2024

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Annual General Body meeting was held on 13/04/2024. Mrs. Shailaja Praveen, Secretary of the PTA, welcomed the gathering and presented the report for the year 2022-2023.

In the educational life of students, the role of teachers and parents is equal, as emphasized by Prof. Gopal M. Gokhale, the administrative director of Govinda Dasa College, during his speech as the chief guest at the Annual General Meeting of the Parents Teachers Association of Govinda Dasa College and the felicitation program for retired professors and student achievers.

Educational thinker and renowned figure Sri Damodar Sharma emphasized in his lecture that young people have a sensitive mentality, and parents should interact with their children as friends. He stressed that children can certainly change their personalities if they are approached with patience and understanding rather than punishment or humiliation when they make mistakes. Parents, along with teachers, should be made aware of the harmful effects of social media misuse and drug addiction on children.

Principal Prof. P. Krishnamurthy remarked that the academic and extra-curricular activities of the students are progressing well, thanks to the continuous support provided by the Parents Teachers’ Association to all the college’s activities and presented an account statement and proposed the budget for the year 2023-2024.

Mr.Harish Kumar D., President of the Parents Teacher Association, highlighted the association’s efforts in providing scholarships to talented students, arranging mid-day meals for deserving students, and organizing competitions to encourage cultural activities. He urged every parent to actively participate in the association’s activities. The event also honoured students who secured 80% and above in the Mangalore University examination for the academic year 2022-23, the team members who represented Mangalore Vishwa Vidyanilaya in the national youth festival and secured third place in the skit competition, and student Moksha Amin who participated in the national yoga competition. The event also felicitated to retired professors and former administrative staff including Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G., Prof. Gopal M. Gokhale, Prof. Marcel Louis Mascarenhas and Dr. Sudha Department of Political Science, who received her doctorate degree, was felicitated.

JUO Vivek Shetty of Cadet Final B.Com. and Hitha Umesh B.Com represented Karnataka in the republic day parade 2024 at new Delhi  were felicitated.

Joint Secretary Vidya C. Patil announced the merit list, while Poornima M. Gokhale presented the list of honourees. Dr. Soumya Praveen, Student Welfare Officer, introduced the guests. The Vice Principal of the college, Prof. Neelappa V., conducted the event. Prof. Harish Acharya P., Internal Quality Assurance Cell Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. Lecturer Dr. Santosh Shetty served as the program narrator. Sumitra, Vice-President of the Parents Teacher Association, and advisory committee members Narayan Gowda and Madhava Kotian, along with Executive Committee Member Leeladhara Shetty and Prof. Vamana Kamath, and Geetha K., were also present.
