“Hejje”, a four-day walk aimed at raising environmental awareness, commenced from Vamanjoor in Mangaluru. This 58-kilometre event, held from October 12 to 15, 2023, was organized by Paper Seed, a social enterprise.
The walk was a concerted effort to raise awareness about environmental conservation. Along the route, various spots were arranged for awareness sessions, where local panchayats, environmentalists, representatives from different organizations, and NSS volunteers from various colleges participated in this.
The walk addressed environmental concerns pertinent to the coastal town, emphasizing conservation, sustainable development, and other issues such as sea erosion, pollution from effluents, the increasing population, and solid waste management.
