The Department of Computer Science at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal organized the Computer Science Association Inauguration Programme on 27 September 2025 at 11:00 AM in the college’s Audio Visual Hall. The event formally marked the launch of the association’s academic and co-curricular activities for 2025–26.
The programme began with the arrival of the dignitaries, who were escorted to the stage. An opening prayer was offered to invoke blessings for the smooth conduct of the event and the academic year ahead. This was followed by a welcome address from Ms. Pratheeksha, a student of III BCA, who extended her greetings and gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and fellow students.
Mrs. Geetha K, Head of the Department, delivered the keynote address. She outlined the objectives of the association, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to academic excellence, and encouraged students to fully utilize the opportunities that the association would provide throughout the year.
The formal introduction of the inaugurator, Dr. Anantha Murthy, Associate Professor in the MCA Department at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, was made by Ms. Dhanyashree Rao, the Student Secretary of the Computer Science Association.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Dr. Anantha Murthy, along with the Chief Guest, Mr. Ramesh Bhat, Director Administration in the presence of the Principal, faculty members, and student secretaries. They lit the ceremonial lamp—a symbolic gesture of the “light of knowledge” — and unveiled the association’s logo, officially marking the start of its identity.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Ramesh Bhat, Director of Administration, addressed the audience and stressed the importance of student participation in co‑curricular activities. He urged students to use the association’s platform to develop their skills and broaden their understanding.
In his Presidential Address, Prof. Hareesh Acharya P, the Principal, highlighted the critical role of technology in modern life. He urged students to embrace new technologies and keep pace with the rapidly evolving IT landscape. He also commended the department’s efforts to bridge the gap between academic training and industry demands.
A short video presentation followed, showcasing the achievements of BCA students in academics, cultural events, and sports, reflecting their rounded growth and vibrant participation.
The technical session was delivered by Dr. Anantha Murthy, on the theme
“IT Trends and Needs for Gen Z.”
He discussed emerging technologies, evolving trends in the IT industry, and the essential skills required of today’s tech‑savvy generation. He emphasized adaptability, innovation, and lifelong learning in a technology-driven world.
As a gesture of appreciation, Mrs. Geetha K, HOD, presented a souvenir to Dr. Anantha Murthy. The programme was organized under the guidance of Mrs. Vidya C. Patil, the staff coordinator of the Computer Science Association.
The event was graced by the presence of all teaching and non‑teaching staff, and approximately 200 students attended. Their energy and participation added tremendous enthusiasm to the programme.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Deekshith, BCA Secretary (III BCA), who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, staff, students, and everyone who contributed to the event’s success. The host for the programme was Ms. Anaga Sharma, a III BCA student.
The inauguration set a positive and inspiring tone for the academic year ahead, leaving students motivated to actively engage in forthcoming association activities.
