The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the PTA was held on 20/09/2025. Mrs. Shailaja Praveen, Secretary of the PTA, presented a detailed report on the association’s activities and achievements over the past year. Her report emphasized the PTA’s support in academic development, student welfare, and infrastructural initiatives and Prof. Hareesha Acharya P presented the budget for next academic year and it was approved by all the parents. during which new office bearers were elected for the upcoming term. The election procedure was done by Prof. Nilappa v, vice principal of the College. The AGM provided a platform to review the past year’s activities, achievements, and future plans of the PTA.
The Annual General Body Meeting was followed by felicitation programme to honour the retired staff members, achievers, and meritorious students of the institution. The event celebrated dedication, academic excellence, and contribution to the college community, embodying the spirit of gratitude and recognition.
Felicitation Programme Schedule and Highlights
- Prayer:
The event began with a soulful invocation by Ms. Nireeksha, dept of Msc setting a serene and respectful atmosphere for the proceedings.
- Welcome Address:
The SWO, Dr. Sowmya Praveen, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, dignitaries, retired staff, achievers, and the audience.
- Chief Guest and Guest of Honour:
Chief Guest: Ms. Mallika N. Rao, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Kannada, Sri Dhavala College, Moodabidri.
Guest of Honour: Prof. Ramesh Bhat S. G., Director–Administration, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.
Both guests commended the college for fostering excellence and nurturing responsible citizens through education and moral values.
- Felicitation Ceremony
The main highlight of the event was the felicitation of retired staff, achievers, and outstanding students:
Felicitation of Retired Principal:
Prof. Krishnamoorthy P, retired Principal of Govinda Dasa College, was honoured for his dedicated service and remarkable contributions to the institution’s growth and development.
Felicitation of Major Sudha U:
Recognized for her distinguished service and achievements, Major Sudha U was honoured with great admiration and respect.
Felicitation of Ph.D. Awardees:
The PTA proudly felicitated the three faculty members who earned their doctoral degrees:
Dr. Pratheeksha, Dr. Sridevi and Dr. Bharathy.
Their academic accomplishments have added prestige to the institution and served as an inspiration to students and peers.
Felicitation of Rank Holders:
The following students were honoured for securing ranks at the Mangalore university level:
Ms. Megha G. Shetty, Ms. Navya Prabhu,Ms. Varshini
Honoring Academic Achievers:
Students who scored above 85% in the degree examinations were recognized for their academic excellence. Additionally, students who represented the college at the national level, and those who cleared NET and KSET examinations, were also felicitated for their remarkable accomplishments.
- Scholarships and Donations
As part of the ceremony, scholarships were awarded to deserving students through generous donations:
Mr. Shrikanth, Proprietor of Sringar, Surathkal, extended his support by donating scholarships to meritorious students.
Additionally, scholarships were distributed from the interest earned on the Fixed Deposit Fund contributed by the 1986 B.A. batch alumni.
These initiatives reflected the college’s strong community support and its commitment to student welfare.
- Presidential remarks
Prof. Hareesha Acharya P., Principal and PTA Treasurer, addressed the gathering, commending the PTA for organizing such a meaningful event and congratulating all the honorees for their achievements.
- Conclusion
The felicitation programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Santhosh Alva, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, parents, students, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the event. The master of ceremony of the program was Dr. Pratheeksha, Joint secretary of PTA.
The programme was a resounding success, marked by heartfelt appreciation, motivation, and celebration of excellence. It reinforced the values of dedication, recognition, and unity within the Govinda Dasa College community.
