Inauguration Ceremony of Rangers Unit
The Rovers and Rangers Unit of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, inaugurated its activities on 17th November 2025 at 3:00 PM in the AV Hall, marking the commencement of a new cycle of student engagement in leadership and service.
The programme was graced by Mr. Bharathraj K, Assistant State Organising Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada District, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Prof. Hareesha Acharya P, Principal of the College, in the presence of Prof. Ramesh Bhat S.G, Director, Prof. Neelappa V, Vice Principal, Dr. Shreedevi, Head of the Department of Business Administration, and Mr. Dhanyakumar Venkannavar, IQAC Coordinator.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome by Ms. Apeksha Bhandary, Ranger Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of the Rovers and Rangers movement in nurturing discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service among students. The programme was smoothly anchored by Prajna, Student Secretary, while the introduction of the Chief Guest was delivered by Ananya, Student Secretary.
A significant highlight of the event was the felicitation of Rangers who had participated in the International Asia-Pacific Regional Conference and FAPW Gathering, organized by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts at the Bharat Scouts and Guides National Headquarters from 19th to 23rd August 2025. The students were honoured for their international representation and for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu, bringing pride to the institution.
In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized that Rovers and Rangers is not merely an activity but a way of life that instills discipline, leadership, and social responsibility. The Principal, in his presidential remarks, highlighted the importance of holistic development beyond academics and encouraged students to actively engage in such meaningful initiatives. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the unit in promoting values-based education.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Boomika, Ranger, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, and participants. The event was conducted with great enthusiasm and served as an inspiring beginning for the unit’s activities.
