Event Report: CHEMORA- 2026

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Department of PG Studies in Chemistry at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, successfully organized CHEMORA 2026, a UG Intercollegiate Chemistry Fest. The event brought together enthusiastic students from various institutions to celebrate the fascinating world of chemical sciences, fostering academic excellence, innovation, and healthy competition.

Inaugural Session

The program commenced at 10:00 AM in the AV Hall with a solemn and inspiring inaugural ceremony. The ceremony began with an invocation by Ms. Chaithanya, I Year M.Sc. student. Dr. Karthik JS, Head of the Department, delivered the introductory remarks and extended a warm welcome to the gathering.The fest was formally inaugurated by Sri Shreeranga H, Secretary of the Hindu Vidyadayinee Sangha, Surathkal.

Keynote Address

The Chief Guest, Dr. Sudhakar Y. N, Associate Professor, School of Basic Science, Humanities& Management, MIT, Manipal, delivered an insightful invited lecture on:

“Role of Electrochemistry in Modern Technologies: Batteries, Sensors and Beyond.”

His talk effectively bridged theoretical concepts with real-world applications, emphasizing the pivotal role of chemistry in modern technological advancements.

Program Highlights

A total of 43 students from 8 colleges actively participated in a range of competitive events such as Treasure Hunt, ChemQuiz, and Chem Rangoli. These activities were thoughtfully designed to evaluate participants’ laboratory skills, conceptual understanding, and creativity.

The campus of Govinda Dasa College resonated with enthusiasm and scientific spirit, reflecting a vibrant gathering of budding chemists engaged in the exploration of the “Chemora” theme.

Valedictory Session

The fest concluded with the Valedictory Session at 3:30 PM, celebrating the achievements of the participants.

Chief Guest: Prof. Hareesha Acharya P, Principal, Govinda Dasa College, addressed the gathering and commended the participants for their dedication, enthusiasm, and academic excellence.

Overall Championship: SDM College, Honnavara

Runners-up: University College, Hampankatta
