The National Service Scheme, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, in association with the Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust (R), Mangaluru, organized an Anti-Addiction Drive on 4th May 2026 in the campus.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Prakash Kotain, Founder and President of Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust and President of Vishwa Belaku Souharda Sahakari Sangha Niyamita. The programme was presided over by Prof. Neelappa V., Vice Principal, graced the occasion as distinguished guests.
The chief guest, Dr. Kusum Thantry DSA, a Ph.D.-certified de-addiction counselor, healer, education leader, and translator, delivered an insightful and inspiring address on the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle. She encouraged students to make informed choices, build emotional resilience, and contribute towards creating an addiction-free society.
The programme was attended by Mrs. Akshatha V. and Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M., NSS Programme Officers, Major Dr. Sudha U. NCC Officer, faculty members, and NSS volunteers. The awareness programme enhanced the volunteers’ understanding of the physical, psychological, and social consequences of addiction and motivated them to actively participate in promoting awareness and preventive initiatives within the community.
