The one-week NSS Annual Special Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of Govinda Dasa College for the NSS volunteers at Shri Narayana Sanil Govt. PU College – High School Section, Haleyangadi, Dakshina Kannada from 30th January to 5th February, 2026.
Several community service and infrastructure development projects were identified for execution during the special camp. This included painting the school’s main entrance gate, repairing and repainting the smaller gate, cleaning the school premises and surrounding areas, developing and maintaining the school garden, creating Warli art on the open stage and school walls, renovating the school toilets and washrooms, and establishing a waste management system for the segregation and disposal of dry and wet waste, including a composting mechanism.
In addition to the physical development activities, a range of community outreach programmes was conducted. These comprised health awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS and blood donation, free dental and general medical check-ups with treatment for the public, street plays promoting health awareness, programmes focusing on the mental and physical development of individuals, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering social responsibility through community service.
A total of 100 registered NSS volunteers participated in the special camp under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Akashatha V and Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M, along with Dr. Prashanth M.D., Physical Director.
