Orientation Programme for First-Year BBA Students
The Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, organized an Orientation Programme for the first-year BBA students on 20th July 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in the III BBA Classroom. The programme was conducted with the objective of familiarizing the newly admitted students with the college, the BBA curriculum, academic regulations, and the various opportunities available for their overall development. A total of 27 students participated in the programme.
The programme commenced with Dr. Pratheeksha serving as the Master of Ceremonies and delivering the welcome address. She extended a warm welcome to Prof. Hareesha Acharya P, Principal, faculty members, and the newly admitted students. She encouraged the students to make the best use of the opportunities available at the institution and to actively participate in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities throughout their college life.
Dr. Shridevi, Head of the Department, introduced the students to the Department of Commerce and Business Administration and provided a comprehensive overview of the Bachelor of Business Administration programme. She explained the course structure, semester-wise curriculum, credit system, internal assessment pattern, project work, internships, and career opportunities available after completing the programme. She also motivated the students to develop leadership qualities, communication skills, and managerial competencies during their academic journey.
Mrs. Punitha R. briefed the students on the rules and regulations of the college. She explained the importance of maintaining discipline, regular attendance, punctuality, examination guidelines, dress code, library facilities, and the code of conduct expected from every student. She emphasized that discipline and commitment are the foundation for academic success and professional growth.
Dr. Pratheeksha also addressed the students regarding the scholarship schemes available through the Government and the institution. She explained the eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the necessary documents required for applying. She encouraged deserving students to avail themselves of these opportunities to support their higher education.
The Principal, Prof. Hareesha Acharya P, delivered the presidential and introductory address by warmly welcoming the students to the Govinda Dasa College family. He highlighted the rich legacy, vision, and mission of the institution and emphasized its commitment to providing quality education and holistic development. He introduced the various undergraduate programmes offered by the college and motivated the students to make the most of their college life by actively participating in seminars, workshops, placement activities, NSS, Rangers and Rovers, sports, cultural programmes, and other co-curricular initiatives. He also advised the students to maintain discipline, cultivate ethical values, and strive for academic excellence while developing the skills required to become responsible professionals and citizens.
The orientation programme concluded successfully with the students gaining a clear understanding of the college environment, the BBA programme, institutional policies, academic expectations, and the opportunities available for their overall development. The programme proved to be informative, interactive, and inspiring, helping the students begin their academic journey with confidence, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook towards their future.
