Introduction:
Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal conducted BA Orientation Programme 2026 for newly admitted first-year BA students on 20 July 2026. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the college environment, academic expectations, and opportunities in social science disciplines.
Objectives of the Programme:
The orientation programme was designed with the following key objectives:
- To introduce students to the college culture, rules, and academic system.
- To explain higher education pathways and career opportunities available for social science students.
- To motivate students to actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- To provide guidance on subject selection, study skills, and campus resources.
- To create awareness about competitive examinations and public service opportunities for BA graduates.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Hareesh Acharya P, Principal, who welcomed the students and outlined the college’s vision, values, and commitment to holistic education. He emphasized the importance of discipline, regularity, and active participation in both academic and non-academic activities.
Dr. Ashalatha P, Head of the Department of Political Science, coordinated the orientation session. She provided detailed information about the BA curriculum, explained the relevance of social science subjects, and highlighted various higher education entry opportunities available after completing BA, including postgraduate studies, competitive exams, and career paths in civil services, teaching, research, and public administration.
