The Department of Library, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Govinda Dasa College, organised another enriching session of the Pusthaka Preethi Parichaya Series on 28 September 2026. The initiative aims to foster reading habits among students, encourage engagement with books, and provide a platform for sharing literary and intellectual insights.
The highlight of the programme was a book review presented by Ms. Anvitha, a student of I B.A. She reviewed the English book On the Way to KRSNA by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
In her review, Ms. Anvitha introduced the audience to the central ideas and themes of the book. On the Way to Krishna presents the philosophy of Krishna consciousness and explores spiritual concepts such as the nature of the soul, the purpose of human life, karma, reincarnation, devotion, and the relationship between the individual soul and God. The book also emphasises spiritual awareness, devotion, meditation, chanting, and a disciplined way of life.
The presentation highlighted how reading books beyond the academic curriculum can broaden students’ perspectives and encourage reflection on the deeper meaning and purpose of life. The programme also provided students with an opportunity to develop their reading, presentation, and critical-thinking skills.
Principal Prof. Hareesha Acharya P. attended the programme along with faculty members Dr. Dr. Sudha U. Mrs. Daya Suvarna, Mrs. Akshatha, Ms. Sharmitha U and Mr. Kittu and Librarian Dr. Sujatha B. A good number of students participated enthusiastically and listened to the book review.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Tejasvi of I B.A., who also proposed the vote of thanks.
