Blood Donation Camp

The NSS Units of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Youth Red Cross, NCC, Rangers, Lions Club Pumpwell Kalpavruksha, Netraavathi Lions Club, and the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank, Government Lady Goschen Hospital, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 14 March 2026 at the college campus.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests Mr. Vinaya Shetty, Mr. Umesh Atikaari, and Mr. Rajesh Shetty, under the presidency of Prof. Hareesha Acharya P., Principal of the College. The dignitaries highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation as a life-saving humanitarian service and encouraged students to actively participate in such noble initiatives.

The camp received an overwhelming response from students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff. A total of 56 donors, including students and members of the teaching and non-teaching staff, voluntarily donated blood, demonstrating their commitment to social service and community welfare.

The programme was graced by NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Akshatha V. and Dr. Bhagyalaxmi M., NCC Officer Major Dr. Sudha U., Youth Red Cross Coordinators Mrs. Poornima Gokale and Mr. Kittu, Rangers Leader Ms. Apeksha Bhandary, Student Welfare Officer Dr. Sowmya Praveen K., along with faculty members and volunteers, whose presence contributed to the success of the event.

The Blood Donation Camp was a grand success, creating awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and inspiring young people to contribute towards saving lives through regular blood donation. The programme reinforced the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You,” by promoting the values of compassion, selfless service, and social responsibility among the volunteers.
