On 15th June 2024, the Department of Commerce and Business Administration and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, organized an industrial visit to Dakshina Kannada Nirmithi Kendra at 9:15 a.m. Mr. Navith K. B., Assistant Engineer at Nirmithi Kendra, welcomed the group and explained the purpose behind the establishment of Nirmithi Kendra and the innovations they have implemented. Established in 1988, Nirmithi Kendra in Dakshina Kannada focuses on constructing eco-friendly houses on a budget. They have introduced various innovations in construction methods to reduce building temperatures, minimize waste, and promote sustainability.
Mr. Navith also detailed the water harvesting techniques used on their premises and their current sewage treatment project for railways. The visit included a delicious breakfast arranged by Nirmithi Kendra for the students and staff.
A total of 49 students from III B.Com (37) and BBA (12) attended the industrial visit. They were accompanied by Dr. Sowmya Praveen, HOD, Department of Commerce; Ms. Shridevi, HOD, Department of Business Administration; Ms. Punitha R., Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development Cell; Dr. Bhagyalaxmi and Dr. Shilparani, Coordinators, Association of Commerce and Business Administration; and Ms. Apeeksha.
