Yakshayana -2022-23

Yakshagana is the most famous folk art  of South Canara District . For the first time in the history of South Canara District , Govinda Dasa College organised an Inter- Collegiate Yakshagana competition on Thenkuthitu & Badagathitu categories  at ‘YAKSHA YANA -2023’ on 7th, 8th , 9th & 10th of April 2023 at Yakshakesari Agari  Raghuram Rao Bhaghavatha stage and Rangamandira ,Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.

                The Inauguration function was held on 7.4.2023  at 9.00 a.m. where, Shri Jayachandra Hathvaar H, President , H.V.Sanga ®  was invited as the President for the programme.  The Inauguration and ashirvachana was rendered by Shri. I.Ramananda Bhat- Hereditary Trustee, Iddya Mahalingeshwara Temple & Shri Agari Raghavendra Rao , Agari Enterprises, Surathkal were the Chief Guests.  Prof.Y.V.Rathnakar Rao, Director-Administration, Govinda Dasa Pre-University College; Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director-Administration, Govinda Dasa College, Prof. P. Krishna Moorthy, Principal, Govinda Dasa College ,Surathkal, & Prof. Ramesh Bhat, Vice- Principal / SWO & Co-ordinator, Yakshayana & Mr. Leeladhar Shetty  ,Secretarty GDC Alumni Association, GDC, Surathkal were on the Dias

In this Inter-collegiate Yakshagana competition in total 17 colleges had participated  . On 7th & 8th of April Bhadaguthitu (Category) Competition was organized and 5 colleges had participated in the same. On 9th & 10th of April Thenkuthitu (Category) was conducted and 12 colleges had got an opportunity to showcase their talent. They are:

  9. M.A.M Institute of Technology , Nitte (Taranisene Kalagha).
  10. Dayananda Pai Dr. Satish Pai Government first grade college, Carstreet & Mangalore (Sudharshana Vijaya);

  17. Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire (Sudharshana Vijaya);
  18. Govinda Dasa College students had also performed (Murasura Vadhe).

            The Closing Ceremony was held on 10th April , 2023 at 5.30.p.m . Shri Ranga H , Secretary, H.V.Sanga ® , Surathkal rendered the Presidential remarks . Shri Karunakara M Shetty Madhyaguttu , President and Administrating Director , V. K. Groups, Mumbai;   Shri Bhujabali, Dharmastala  ; Shri Shankaranarayana Mairpady , Yakshaguru  were the Guests of honours .

On this occasion a Special Award “ Yakshayana 2023” was given to Shri Madhav S Shetty , Bala  , Patron of Yakshagana . The wellwishers of GDC Kalaabdhi took this as an opportunity to thank Prof.Ramesh Bhat, for being the backbone of Kalaabdhi and encouraging Finearts at GDC through a token of love. Students mesmerized his efforts and interest shown towards art by him throughout his journey at GDC

The program came to an end with the Vote of thanks rendered by Prof.Ramesh Bhat, Co-ordinator Yakshayana . This programme was highly appreciated by the audience of both Dakshina kannada and Udupi district.

The Overall prizes were as follows:

Under Bhadaguthitu 1st Place was bagged by Dr. B.B Hegde First grade College, Kundapur , 2nd Place  by Bhandarkars College, Kundapuraand 3rd Place  by Shree Poornaprajna Evening College , Udupi.

Under Thenkuthitu 1st Place      was bagged by Alvas College, Moodabidri, 2nd Place by Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Law College, Mangalore and 3rd Place by Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire.
