After a long break of two years, it’s time to get our life back to norm. The best way to kick start is through organising ‘YAKSHAYANA 2022’. Thus, Govinda Dasa College organised an Inter- Collegiate Yakshagana (Thenkuthitu) Competition ‘YAKSHA YANA -2022’ in association with Parents’ Teachers’ Association, Govinda Dasa College on 4th, 5th & 6th March 2022 at Agari Raghuram Rao stage opposite to Rangamandira ,Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.
The Inauguration function was held on 4.3.2022 at 2.00 p.m where, Prof. Y.V. Rathnakar Rao, Vice –President , H.V.Sanga ® was the President . The Inauguration and ashirvachana was rendered by Shri. I.Ramananda Bhat, Hereditary Trustee, Iddya Mahalingeshwara Temple . Shri Balakrishna Shetty, Rtd. Officer, Sandose India Limited , Mumbai; Shri. M Ramesh Rao, President, Alumni Association, GDC, Surathkal were the Chief Guest of the programme. Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director-Administrator, Govinda Dasa College, Prof. P. Krishna Moorthy, Principal, Govinda Dasa College ,Surathkal , & Mrs. Laxmi P. Principal , Govinda Dasa Pre- University College , Prof. Ramesh Bhat, Vice- Principal, SWO, Co-ordinator Kalaabdhi , Co-ordinator, Yakshayana & Mr. Gangadhar Poojary , PTA President, GDC, Surathkal were on the Dias .
For the first time in the history of Govinda Dasa College, 13 colleges had participated for the Inter-collegiate Yakshagana competition . They are: K.S.S College, Subramanya (Sudharshana Vijaya); Government First Grade College , Betampadi (Sudharshana Vijaya); Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Mangalore (Sharanasevarathna); Canara College, Mangalore ( Mooksha Sangrama) ; Mahaveera College, Moodabidri ( Sudharshana Garvabanga); St. Aloysius College, Mangalore (Narakasura Mooksha ) ; Vivekananda Law College, Puttur( Bhargava Vijaya) ; Vivekananda College, Puttur (Narakasura Mooksha) ; University College Mangalore ( Mahishavadhe) ; Shree Durgaparameshwari devala first grade college, Kateel (Babruvahana Kalaga); Alva’s College , Moodabidri (Sudarshana Garvabanga); Dr.Dayananda Pai Dr. Satish Pai Government first grade college, Carstreet & Mangalore ( Narakasura Vadhe); Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire (Sudharshana Vijaya); Govinda Dasa College students had also performed (Murasura Vadhe).
The Closing Ceremony was held on 6th March 2022 . Shri Ranga H , Secretary , H.V.Sanga ® , Surathkal rendered the Presidential remarks . Shri Bhujabali, Dharmastala, Shri. Shripathi Bhat, Proprietor, Dhanalaxmi Cashew Industry , Moodabidri ; Shri K C Nagendra Bharadwaj , Famous Astrologer, Surathkal, Shri Agari Ragavendra Rao, Agari Enterprises, Surathkal, Shri. Sudhakar Poonja, President, Bantara Sanga , Surathkal, Shri. D.K.Shetty, Soorinje were the Guests of honour . Prof.Ramesh Bhat, Co-ordinator Yakshayana proposed the Vote of thanks. This programme was highly appreciated by the audience.
